There is wide-ranging agreement that humans are causing climate change and that current political and community responses to climate change are inadequate in relation to the scale and severity of the challenge. Governments need climate change policies that are aligned with citizen priorities and values. This requires new practices of democratic engagement, collaborative planning, and community action.
Alberta Climate Dialogue is a five-year project exploring how direct participation by citizens in problem-solving and decision-making activities can enhance our ability to respond effectively on climate issues in this province.
ABCD developed this short video discussing climate change in the Alberta context and why ABCD deliberative methods are so relevant to fostering societal change.
